It is important to understand that any remapping of the modern paradigm has both a deconstructive and a reconstructive dimension; they need to be seen not as opposites, with sharp boundaries drawn between them, but as components in a larger process, operating simultaneously like the complementarity principle. The key is to bring the two components into relationship, so that they will not remain poised forever in a mutual antagonism. —Suzi Gablik, The Reenchantment of Art
A Crack of (something) Blue is an investigation of constructing and deconstructing in order to reveal a co-existence of both pain and beauty. I am interested in the process of reconstruction as a way to introduce a new means in which we think about and reconcile our dreams and reality. My role as an artist is to challenge conventional social norms, uncover truth about myth and to provide empathy and affirmation in a way that reconsiders roles and expectations.
